Creating a Robust Learning Experience for RN Residents Activating RRTs Using Multimodal Learning

Joey Carralero & Elicia Egozcue-Ochoa
Baptist Health South Florida

ABSTRACT:
Delayed activation of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) can lead to Failure to Rescue events. Key barriers include:
Negative responses from providers when RRTs are initiated
Lack of knowledge and confidence among nurses in identifying when to activate an RRT
Simulation: an effective educational strategy
reinforces learning
Emotion + an Event = Cements Memory
especially during high-stress clinical scenarios.
Education and simulation increased awareness of appropriate code response and built confidence in new nurses by clarifying factors that influence real-time decision-making.
