ABSTRACT:
Novice nurses often have mixed feelings about nursing research. These feelings can resonate from negative class experiences, a lack of understanding about the research process, a belief that research is too complex, or uncertainty about how research relates to clinical practice.
New nurses are often overwhelmed and challenged with time management, preventing them from prioritizing research in their practice.
Nurses are often inadequately trained and supported to develop the skills necessary for conducting research effectively.
Magnet-recognized organizations identify the need for expanding clinical nurses’ role in research, enabling them to contribute to new knowledge, innovations, and improvements.
Engaging in research can stimulate professional development, growth, and the desire to pursue advanced education.
Clinical ladder points are often awarded in these organizations and can be earned by engaging in nursing research.
