ABSTRACT:
In the US, type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is the most common form of diabetes, affecting carbohydrate metabolism and representing 90-95% of all diabetes cases. Its development is driven by insulin resistance and/or insufficient insulin production. T2DM affects about 11% of Asian Americans, with 10% of that group being Filipino Americans. This poster explores the impact of cultural perceptions on diabetes self-care among Filipino Americans with T2DM.
